LEGOs at the National Building Museum

Kate and I took the girls to the National Building Museum in D.C. The Air and Space is fantastic, of course, but the NBM is the most beautiful. It was once the federal pension administartion building, and its cathedral-like interior is lined with marble, including a number of 75-foot-tall corinthian columns. We went to see the new exhibit of LEGO architecture. Adam Reed Tucker built 15 scale models of famous structures out of LEGOs. Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater is about three feet across, while the Burj Khalifa Tower in the United Arab Emirates is 18 feet high. Each construction took hundreds of hours to plan and assemble. Below is Fallingwater, the girls with the St. Louis Gateway Arch and San Francisco's TransAmerica pyramid, the Empire State Building and the Sears Tower, and the interior of the NBM itself (note the water fountain).
