The Adventure of the Holmesian Podcast

The only podcast to which I listen religiously is The Chronic Rift. Not only is it hosted by drewshi and frequently featureskradical, but it covers a huge range of genre-related topics. Recent weeks have included episodes about zombies, Dr. Who, and Harry Potter. They even interviewed Dayton Ward and myself about Star Trek writing. Naturally, my comments were mostly about writing for Strange New Worlds, but I had some interesting things to say on other topics.

Host John S. Drew was kind enough to have me back last weekend to take part in a discussion about Sherlock Holmes in his many manifestations across time and media. Joining us were Rift regular Andrea K. Lipinski and—in a typical Rift coup—writer Laurie R. King, author of the Mary Russell series, featuring a young lady who becomes first apprentice to an aged Holmes and then much more. I didn't acquit myself very well I'm afraid, coming off as the simple Holmes fanboy that I am. Laurie, on the other hand, is clearly an expert in the field and a very seasoned interviewee. She was insightful. Listen for her if nothing else.

On the bright side, I put together all the Homes-related sound clips you hear throughout the episode. Those came out very nicely. Maybe my strength is in producing, not speaking.
