Rally to Restore . . . swag.

You can judge a rally by its t-shirts, and the October 30 Rally to Restore Sanity and its evil twin, the March to Keep Fear Alive, have released their official swag. These official items, sold through Comedy Central, are mediocre at best. As always, it’s the evil side that’s more fascinating. Look here to see the shirts. The KFA shirt features the Stephen Colbert KFA logo and the clever motto “I Have A Scream” on the back. Oh, and it’s black. The Jon Stewart Rally to Restore Sanity shirt is a bit of a disappointment. It’s grey, which I suppose symbolizes a “middle of the road” attitude. No picture of Stewart, instead it’s just got the phrase “I’m With Stupid” but with “Stupid” crossed-out and replaced with “Reasonable.” This captures the spirit of the rally (a return to civil discourse) better than the Colbert shirt, but it’s so much less-interesting.

So, it’s up to the bootleggers, the “average Joes,” if you will. If you go to CafePress.com and search Rally to Restore to Sanity, you’ll get a lovely assortment. Since, officially, none of these shirts will be available at the event (From the FAQ: “Absolutely no products are to be sold on the National Mall.”), get yours in advance. Or, if you can not attend, just wear it around town.
